I r 'mart
tomtom
minikin
('mart is one of those family pronunciations)

I am nothing if not pigheaded persistent. I needed to activate Dial Up Networking, then create/modify a profile at the Tomtom site, then the Tomtom successfully did the rest.

As traffic is a subscription feature, I'll probably not bother with it. Weather on the other hand, is something I've been wanting on-demand on road trips for quite some time.

The only drawback, is that I have to chose between my headset and weather -- DUN disables bluetooth while it's active. For now, I don't know if there's a way to get on-demand DUN activation on the Treo.

But still. COOOL! Flar's car cannot actually tell the weather, although the windshield wipers somehow know when it's precipitating.

Ooh, ooh, and Tomtom has a feedback system for map errors. So maybe someday Vince Road will be mapped correctly. Right now, Marshall Branch takes over the segment between Carolyn Lane and the actual Marshall Branch. Fortunately, I can set my home location via GPS, so it's not nearly so annoying as it otherwise might be. Anyway, I sent in a report.

Hehe. I haven't figured out how to report map errors, either! :-) You r very 'mart.

Register/login to the tomtom site, and it's one of the links in the "My Account" box.

Getting my new cell phone got me to try this again, and it turned out that I needed to download and install an update to my TomTom GO 700 before it would talk to my phone. I discovered this while poking around the TomTom site, after talking to a tech support rep who couldn't solve the problem. When I get a call back from them, I'll be able to tell them I'm all set!
