Father's Day

I woke up to my Treo alarm this morning, at 6:30am. There are some things more important than sleep, and making sure that my daddy gets breakfast in bed when I'm actually in the same city for Father's Day is one of those things.

Tigger got up with me. He made the buttered toast (it's apparently an Ed, Edd and Eddy thing), while I made a garlic chicken omelet. Critter didn't wake up in time to pour the Strawberry Breeze, but he did wander in to wish his Grandaddy a Happy Father's Day.

Daddy left for the early service at church, while the rest of us went back to bed. I didn't get back to sleep -- once up enough to prepare an omelet, I'm up for the day. I had plenty of time to shower and dress before the last service at church.

After church, Mom and the boys and I stopped at Wal-Mart for supplies for Father's Day Dinner. I grilled the steak and buttered and heated the garlic bread; Critter fixed the garlic-mashed cauliflower; Tigger fixed the glazed carrots and steamed broccoli; and Mom set the table and located spices for the rest of us.

Daddy hates cauliflower, but he liked the South Beach recipe. The rest of the meal was yummy as well.

After dinner, we started thinking about leaving tomorrow. I uploaded pictures to Mom and Dad's harddrive, and Critter's gong to burn disks for me. I've synced my Treo, including installing a clock utility I bought last night.

Mom's put in one load of clothes for Critter, and we're doing the rest of the laundry tomorrow. I did a bit of organizing the other night when I packed an overnight bag for Austin, and I just handed a bunch of stuff over to Critter. He promptly filled up one box with books, and the other will hold the silk scarves, electronics boxes and other odds and ends that I've collected during our stay here in San Antonio.

I found out today from hippychicx that a woman I've met maybe a total of three times has died. She was a friend of sydb42 and darkwolf69, and she seemed very nice. I regret not having had the opportunity to know her better.

Overall, it's been a nice visit. I've gotten lots of rest, gotten to celebrate Father's Day with my own dad for the first time in quite a few years, had fun with kids, read lots of books, and played with new gadgets.

On to the next stop in our journey. :)
