Routine Ramblings of an Occasionally Interesting Housewife

Couldn't sleep
So I decided to play chess.

I managed to get Sigma chess to resign thrice. I've no idea why, though. I decided to save the last instance.

Any thoughts?

From this position, White is up a bishop and a knight for three pawns. Black's remaining Knight is pinned to his Queen, and he will be unable to protect the Knight without sacrificing a certain amount of King safety (P-KB3). After, for example, 24. ... P-KB3, 25. N-KB6 ..., 26. QxKR5, Black's position begins to look awfully bleak. There's probably a refutation to what I just suggested- I only had a couple of minutes to glance- but that's what I saw on my own.

Crafty (a chess engine) saw this continuation (which I don't have time to translate to descriptive notation. It seems to show a similar idea to what I saw.)

24. ... f6 25. Qxh5 c4 26. Ng6 Bd7 27. Bxd7 Qxd7 28. Rxe5 d3 29. Nc5 dxc2 30. Rc1 Qd4 31. Nxf8 fxe5

Thank you. I'll take a lot at all of this when I'm back from vacation.
