Stamping

i are a rubber stamper

With clean-up, it took about an hour longer than I'd have liked, but I really like the results. Embossing powder is much more fun to play with than flocking.

The certificates are mostly computer printed -- but I left a corner free in which to rubber stamp a knight, surrounded by a splash of embossed gold. That came out really nicely.

And the cool part about the computer printing, is that (following Knihgt's suggestion) I scanned Coach's signature (he was Critter's teacher last year; I used a grade report) and my signature, and used them on the certificates. They really look like thery're fresh signatures, not canned.

Before I put away my stamping stuff, I made a couple of embossed gold otter stickers (out of plain white stickers that were included in the frame kit, but not needed), and rubber stamped the card for the gift certificate. An otter in a splash of gold. And raccoon prints -- my more subtle signature.

I put the picture in the frame I'd bought, and slipped it into a gift bag that Gaucha sent to me from Brazil. Tomorrow, all I have to do for Chess Club is print a new sign-out sheet, and pick up the cake on the way there.

Knight is a dear. Date night turned into craft night, and he not only stayed and kept me company, but he made suggestions, and helped with a critical eye during graphics layout. He's a sweetie.

Sydb had a Stampin' Up part tonight. Me-thinks I stamped more than she did tonight. ;)

Morning

Had trouble sleeping last night. I think Flar is sick. He was up during the night, which woke me.

I took 11,731 steps yesterday, equivalent to 4.63 miles. A very active day. Today will likely be more sedentary, since I've run out of things to do instead of the bills.

The list:

    Monday - Pink
    Tuesday - Orange
    Wednesday - Yellow
    Thursday - Green
    Friday - Blue
    The Weekend - Purple

update

Slight change in plans. (An excuse to put off doing bills, oh darn!)

Flar noticed that my right front tire is low this morning. So, after I eat a quick breakfast, I'm heading to Wal-Mart to get my tire fixed or replaced.

I'm so glad I did the certificates last night, instead of waiting until this morning...

working on bills

I'm going through receipts, and just did the math for something very annoying.

Toys R Us had Harry Potter on the special pre-order program. Pre-order for $5, get the DVD for a balance of 7.99. That part's great. But when I went to pick it up, I was a little surprised that I paid a total of 9.37. The tax was $1.38. The short answer is that the tax was on the total amount. I didn't stop to do the math...

The "total amount" they taxed was the price before any discount. Toys R Us' pre-order program gives a discount for pre-order, and they don't calculate the reduced price and then tax that. They tax the before-discount price. It's as if I'd paid $5 to buy a $15-off coupon. So the sales tax was on $22.99.

The worst part is the friendly "YOU SAVED $15.00" at the bottom of the receipt. Uh, no, I saved $10. I PRE-PAID the $5.00.

Inaccuracy in communications annoys me.
