bundled up, walkabout, snow

Late night

I got a late start on the PWP stuff with Wolf, thus a late end of the day...

I don't feel like a got a lot done today, but I took a lot of steps doing it. I took 8429 steps today, equivalent to walking 3.33 miles.

Bowling was fun. The doorprizes were liked, the decorations were admired, and many goodbyes were said. The regular season is over, and most people won't be bowling in a summer morning league, so it was goodbye until this fall, when the next regular season starts. We bowled no-tap. My first game was dismal - only 135. But I bowled a 179 in the second game, with only ONE no-tap frame. I got lots of natural and no-tap strikes in the third game, and bowled 188. Whee!

The most unusual thing about my bowling today was that I rolled a natural strike in the very first frame. Usually, I can go till the second game before I roll a real strike. But this meant that I had early selection from the gift exchange, and my gift was really neat: a 16 piece dish set. It's plates, dessert plates, bowls and mugs. They are decorated with an old diner theme. I've decided to let the boys use these dishes upstairs in the playroom, with the toaster oven & microwave that we have up there.

After bowling, I replenished the junk food we buy from Sam's, and leied the nurse at my allergist's office. It was fun to spend the day out wearing luau attire.

I cooked "real" food for dinner: baked chicken with breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese coating, Lipton's noodle side dish and teriyaki veggies.

After dinner, I got frustrated when I wanted to play a game of Scrabble and either Explorer or Playsite was making the window too small for my game room. I couldn't see the toolbar at the bottom, and then I couldn't see the tiles in my rack. Argh.

So I suppose it made it complete, when Wolf and I couldn't get the RSVP form to operate correctly on the first try. Sigh. PHP forms the first page properly, but the submit and reset buttons don't operate. Sent a note to Turnip, hoping he can clear this up.

And now it's terrifically late. I likely won't leave the house tomorrow until time to pick up the boys. Ideally, I'll have dinner ready to eat early before time to take Tigger to gymnastics. We'll see.

Morning

Not 9 o'clock yet, and I've already eaten breakfast and messed with a file for which I didn't hold the security token. (I only called dibs on one file; I messed with two; I'm pretty sure I'm the only one of the three of us who cares about the actual html files -- that's the pretty stuff.) For that matter, it's not 9 of the clock yet (I can't remember what I read recently that spelled it out), and I can't remember the OS theory term I want, or whether "security token" is close enough.

Dibs is good. Calling and releasing dibs is a good metaphor for the system I'm trying to remember the names in...

There's an actual chance that the PWP invitation will be live before May. Woo hoo! I am SO behind this year.

Annoyed by the weather. Cool enough in the mornings to be glad of the heater, but warm enough in the days to (a) want AC or at least (b) need a daily shower. I'm an every-other-day kind of shower girl, and I just don't like being smelly on the same day I've showered. Unless it's sex-smelly, and somewhere along the way I learned to be aroused by that rather than icked out.

Okay, maybe a shower will reset my language skills, as well.

sometimes I wonder

if people "get" my weirder subject headings....

I'm feeling mildly productive. I've gotten a nice start on laundry, to the point that I'm waiting on machines. I reorganized a cabinet section that was getting unruly, and then did the first run on mail, which doesn't count as sorting it, so I'm listing "thinning" separately.

I figured out something that can simmer all day: potato-cheese soup, and (in another pan) block of something frozen. It might be chili, burgoo or gumbo. There's almost certainly meat in it, but it's hard to tell, otherwise. I'm thinking of cooking it in a pan in the toaster oven, as less likely to burn than on the stove....

The potato-soup is the lazy variety: onions & garlic sautéd in a little oil, packaged potatoes o'brien, a pound of velveeta, a quart of chicken boullion, and the rest of a bag of crinkle-cut carrots.

While I'm waiting for the laundry, I'm moving on to dishes. Thus pushing back quicken to tonight.

A productive afternoon

Yay! I'm almost done with the laundry, and got the RSVP form finished.

The mystery block from the freezer turned out to be baked beans.

Announcing the PWP

Okay, the invitation is ready for the public.

Turnip is kind enough to host the page for me, with supporting database for the RSVPs. He's had some problems on his machine lately, and ironing out little details had the page up and down today. But at this point, I expect it to be stable.

I'll announce it to various poly lists and poly lj communities tomorrow.

Now I'm for bed.
