Morning

I didn't get as much done yesterday as I'd have liked. But considering how I felt when I woke up, it's probably a victory to have done anything.

I'm feeling mostly just tired today. I ought to be able to get lots done, except that I'm going to be cooling my heels down at Powers for I-don't-know-how-long. If it were just the ABS light coming on, that's expected to be a simple thing. But there's this noise...

Anyway, after I check in on email and live journal, Flar should be up so I can strip our bed and make it, and get the laundry rolling by washing the sheets first. If I have time before I leave with my car, I can get the dirty clothes sorted. Then it will depend on how much time I get at home.

We had to pay taxes. Flar took a home office deduction for the first time, which helped a lot, but we still owed. Ages ago, we invested in low-income housing, that gave us a tax credit. That was used up this year, and Flar had mis-remembered how much of it would be left, when he was estimating taxes.

I may start working. I used to think that would be the end of the earth, and this horrible sign that everything was falling apart. And I've been dragging my feet because I've no idea what my ending salary at Texaco was, or what I made at UK. So writing a resume would mean digging through tax records or something. But Flar's got a client who needs overflow workers -- it's for scanning, like demariana is doing right now. No resume required, I'm totally overqualified, but I'm coming to realize that it would make me feel better about things, knowing that I'm doing something to bring in other money. Anyway, he's going to talk to his client about that.

Flar's client who's owed us money since November keeps thinking he'll be able to pay "in just a few days." But he's having cash flow problems, too. He's just signed two new clients, and the money from those deposits made come our direction. I'll believe it when I see it, but it would sure help.

Flar's got some promising leads that may mean at least three months of reasonable income, and some other jobs that are starting to pay off. Maybe by summer it won't feel so scary.

Geo guiz

From canuckgirl's journal, I took the Geography Quiz.

Netscape did work right, so I had to take it in Explorer. Which for whatever reason, crashed my computer twice last night.

This morning, I scored:

World - 32/33 (I clicked too low for the Arctic Ocean, the first try)
USA - 134/150
South America - 31/39
Middle East - 66/87
Europe - 58/111
Central America - 33/42
Caribbean - 40/72
Canada - 26/39
Asia - 62/84
Africa - 43/147

Geography is obviously not my strong suit. ;)

I am a frog

I just spent the morning at Powers. Their break room isn't fancy, but it has big table which was convenient for doing all the crosswords Flar'd saved up over the week I was gone. There was a wall-unit air conditioner, which I didn't bother to turn on. Eventually one of the mechanics came in, decided the room was hot, and turned it on.

I had goosebumps on my arms and couldn't keep my legs still from shivering, before I realized I needed to readjust the thing. I'm that way -- temperatures sort of creep up on me, and it's not til it's extreme that I notice.

Pathetically optimistic, the list:

A bright spot

In a bright spot of my morning, I got to talk to Wolf while he was driving to lunch. He went out of his way to make it a long drive so we could talk longer, which was really sweet.

Well, she's getting to meet the real me

I'm going to blame it on losing my contact lens during vacation. I never feel fully awake in the morning until after I've put in my contacts, and I've been wearing my glasses exclusively since Friday. I feel like I've been sleep walking through the week. And it didn't help to be out all morning for my car.

Total schedule slippage and lethargy and the house is a wreck. There's no way everything that I've got listed for tomorrow will happen tomorrow, but I'm not willing to slip things more than a day at a time, and I'm not sure which I'll get done.

Two weeks ago, I was on top of things and the house looked good.

But, then canuckgirl wouldn't be meeting the real me, would she? She keeps saying not to clean for her, and hey, that's not happening -- but one wonders if she understands the magnitude of messy we can get here. After all, I'm from Texas, where everthing is bigger. Especially the messes.

Well, it ought to be interesting.

Tigger is really enjoying his gymnastics class. We went by Prez's house after, and picked up the bowling records. After I post this, I'll print new forms, and go to bed.

We have to get up extra early tomorrow, to get Flar to the airport on time. I've promised the boys Waffle House to spend the extra time.

Busy day tomorrow. Must sleep.
