bundled up, walkabout, snow

getting betta'

Well, I feel better this morning than I did yesterday morning. And Critter feels better this morning than he did yesterday morning. But his temperature was 100.0°F when I took it this morning, and he sounds pretty croupy when he coughs.

Looks like Critter is going to get well just in time for mid-winter break. And I'll still be in recovery mode for my trip to CA with Knight.

I was going to stop by the grocery, the bank and the post office this morning, but I left my wallet at home, and then decided, once home to stay long enough to print out checks properly, rather than write them out and put check numbers into Quicken.

A young kid - either 18 or turning 18 this year - misjudged the turn this morning, and ran into our fence. So when I got home from driving Tigger to school, a sheriff's deputy came knocking on my door. I've gotta call up Farmer, so he doesn't put horses out in that part of the pasture. The kid said he'll do the repair work himself: I've just got to coordinate it. Farmer generally does the fence upkeep for the property, so I'll talk to him about that.

Demariana is coming over after her appointment with the resume writer. So I've gotta get my errands done before then.

Evening update

Not perfect yet, but definitely feeling better. And, on the bright side, Critter's temperature was normal at dinnertime. Which bodes well for attending one days of classes this week. :)

Demariana came over today to hang out. She's one of my friends who can come over to visit and "help" me get work done, at the very least by providing companionship while I'm working on something. She sat in the kitchen and we talked while I unloaded/loaded the dishwasher, and then she helped me clear off the kitchen table enough to be able to eat lunch. Clam chowder and grilled cheese. Yumm. After lunch, she helped me clip coupons. I haven't done it in at least three weeks, so there were plenty to occupy both of us.

It was especially neat, because I found coupons for fresh sausage and smoked sausage, so I've got dinner for the rest of the week: Sausage gravy tonight, and Red Beans and Rice with Smoked Sausage tomorrow night. And leftovers on Friday after chess club.

Before I met Demariana at the house, I went to the post office to pick up a package from Gaucha. It's addressed to Flar, so I have to wait until I get home to pick it up.

Then I made two loan payments at the bank. The first mortgage and the equity line. The first mortgage is so late, that I also included a separate check for the late fee. If I'd been thinking, I'd have caught the amount before it printed. As it was, I put the correct loan number of the check, and put it with the check for the first mortgage behind that payment coupon, behind the check for the equity line, all folded into the payment page for the equity line. The teller applied the late fee to the wrong account, and I didn't realize the mistake until I was home. I called right away and got it straighten out, but it was annoying.

After school, Tigger helped me with the grocery shopping. Three bags, two twelve packs and $100 later....

After dinner, we watched Cats and Dogs and now it's time to read before bedtime.
