bundled up, walkabout, snow

Hanging out in Texas

Last night, I asked Mom to wake me up this morning so I could go visit Granny before she and Daddy go to a wedding today. I typically don't drive in San Antonio, since I don't know where much of anything is, I'm not used to driving in as big a city as this, and well, I'm a better passenger than Mom.

We agreed she would wake me at 7, but she woke me at 8. I think. I haven't set my watch, and I don't remember if she knocked and told me it was 8, or if I looked at my watch. Anyway, there was plenty of time to take an hour for breakfast before showering. Daddy made me a turkey omelet for breakfast, and I also had a bowl of Lucky Charms and a couple of Krispy Kremes. Which probably explains why I'm not quite hungry for lunch, yet.

We kept thinking of stuff to do before going to see Granny. Flar had some mail, so I got together what I wanted to send to Lori, and the renewals I needed to send to USCF. Then Mom was putting together a deposit, and that reminded me about having cash for buying a digital camera, and we decided to go ahead and order the camera. The camera we're getting is a Nikon Coolpix 2500. Dad gave one to Mom for Christmas, and she's been letting me use it while we're here.

We ordered a sun-hood for the LCD monitor, and 2nd day shipping should bring us the camera by Tuesday. Whee!

Granny is doing well today. She's alert and feisty. She doesn't see really great, or hear worth a darn, but she'll argue you blue in the face, anyway. :) The room that she's in at the nursing home has a window that looks out at a bird feeder that Mom and Dad hung there for her. Her bed is turned to face the window, and she spends most of her time in bed these days. Yesterday all of us went to see her, but today just Mom and I went. Granny is 106 years old, as of last June. Tomorrow I'll take a picture of her with the boys and post it somewhere.

Gonna go hunt up food and maybe write some Thank You notes, now.
